There are two basic principles to always remember about golf:  Play the ball as it lies and play the course as you find it.

When you swing, always make sure that no one is near you, both in practice and in play; remember to stop, look, and swing.

If a dropped ball hits the ground and rolls closer to the hole than its original position you must drop it again.

You are not permitted to touch or move the ball, except for special situations that allow you to do so.

The correct number of clubs you may start a round with is 15.

If your shot goes off in a direction in which it could hit someone, you should shout “Look Out” or “Get Out of the Way”.

Striving to be a good golfer is important, but golf courtesy should be equally as important.

The player is responsible for seeing that the score is correct.

Always remember to help take good care of the playing areas while you play, by replacing divots and repairing ball marks.

When you have played out of a bunker, it is not necessary to rake the sand smooth before leaving.

Repair any ball marks caused by your ball landing on the green, plus one other.

Keep up with the group ahead of you; or if you fall out of position (behind), each member of your group may be penalized one stroke.

All junior golfers must comply with the local golf club’s policy concerning spikes or spikeless shoes.

Adults are allowed to give advice to players during their round.

The deadline to enter each NSJGA Tournament will be 5:00 p.m. three days  before the tournament.  Tee times will be posted by noon the day before the event.

All NSJGA members are required to have their own golfing equipment.

Any player who leaves the course without signing or turning in their scorecard will be automatically disqualified, and faces a one tournament suspension.

Lateral water hazards should be defined by red stakes.

Water hazards are marked by orange stakes.

Anytime you go to the golf course to play or practice you should wear a shirt with a collar.

The player is the only one that can determine if a ball is unfit for play.

If a player arrives at his starting hole at a tournament 5 minutes late, he or she would be allowed to play his round.

All NSJGA junior golfers are required to walk while playing in a tournament unless there are special provisions made by the Rules Committee.

If your ball lies in a bunker and a stick is just in front of your ball, you are allowed to move the stick.
